Have you ever tried to grow either red or green malabar spinach? According to the information I've discovered it seems to be more heat tolerant.
We have indeed. In fact, I have attached a picture of our red Malabar spinach growing in one of our grow barrels in our soil garden. This picture was taken just before I wrote this reply. It is almost 2 pm here in Lubbock and the temperature is showing to be a balmy 96 degrees F. It has been hot here for the past several weeks and as you can see, our Malabar spinach is doing quite well. It is beginning to try and flower a bit, but we pinch off the buds and it just keeps going. We eat it regularly. We sautee it, cook it with other vegetables and we have used it in our spinach dip recipe. I will try and do a Plant of the Week feature on Malabar spinach and give some more information.
