Book Review - The Hidden Half of Nature by David R. Montgomery

David R. Montgomery and Anne Bikle chronicle the regeneration of the soil and the landscape around their Oregon home.  David, a geologist, and Anne, a biologist, purchased a nearly 100-year-old home in Seattle, Oregon to discover that the plot of land on which it sits had been scraped clean, almost to the subsurface glacial till.  As David puts it succinctly in the book, “the builders of the house at the turn of the 20th Century had effectively returned the soil to the end of the last ice age.”
